FAIRBANKS, ALAKSA -- November 28, 2019 -- The host University of Alaska Fairbanks opened the game on a 16-4 run Thursday afternoon as they defeated Chadron State 87-73 in the Eagles first game of the North Star Invitational.

CSC drops to 1-6 overall, while the Nanooks improve to 4-3.

The Eagle offense scored a season high 73 points in the loss. They were outscored 51-31 in the first half, but outscored Fairbanks 42-36 in the second.

Chadron State lowered the deficit to 12 multiple times in the second half but never managed to get it to single digits after a Sam Tolliver jumper for Alaska-Fairbanks as time expired in the first quarter.

The Eagles shot 36.2 percent (25-69) from the field while the Nanooks hit 48.5 percent (33-68). Chadron State was outrebounded 46 to 29.

CSC made 17-26 free-throw attempts, while Alaska Fairbanks made 16-29.

Fairbanks committed 21 turnovers in the game, compared to CSC's 14. Chadron State scored 18 points off turnovers and the Nanooks scored 16.

Jori Peters had a team high 19 points and six assists for Chadron State.
Melisa Kadic had a team high seven rebounds.

Tolliver scored a game high 31 points. Kylie Wallace recorded a double-double with 17 points and rebounds.

Jocelyn Gandara and Sabrina Ungaro also both scored in double-digits, with 17 and 12 points, respectively. Brittany Richards had 11 rebounds.

Chadron State returns to action tomorrow as they face Lake Erie College at 3 p.m.
