LINCOLN, Neb. -- November 7, 2019 -- The Chadron State College wrestling team split a pair of duals against the University of Nebraska and Hastings College in the squad's initial varsity action of the season on Thursday.

"I'm very pleased with our toughness tonight," said CSC Head Wrestling Coach Brett Hunter. "We were in shape, and we really did a good job finishing matches. It was a great experience for our program. We had a lot of support there as well."

The lone win by CSC over the Huskers came at 165 pounds, when the Eagles' Tate Allison downed UNL's Dalton Peters in a 3-1 decision. The Nebraska contingent came away with a 37-3 win.

Against Hastings, the Eagles lineup stood firm, registering five pins, a tech fall and two major decisions, en route to a 45-3 victory.

Freshman Tate Stoddard recorded a second-period pin against NAIA No. 20  Max Stevens. CSC's Chase Clasen, ranked No.5 in NCAA Division II at 149 pounds, was victorious over the NAIA No. 19 wrestler at 157 pounds, Taygen Smith, by a score of 8-2.

Allison emerged as the Eagles' lone undefeated competitor for the evening, getting the decision against the Huskers and the pin versus Hastings.
