Eagles shoot a season low in loss to Western Colorado

GUNNISON, Colo. – December 13, 2019 -- The Chadron State College women's basketball team shot a season low 26 percent while falling to Western Colorado in Gunnison Friday night, 69-43. 
 
A Melisa Kadic three pointer with 5:56 left in the first quarter gave CSC a 7-6 lead, but Western scored responded with a Hannah Cooper three to take the lead and never lost it the rest the game. 
 
With the loss, CSC falls to 3-9 overall and 1-2 in conference play. The Mountaineers are now 5-2 overall and 3-0 in the RMAC.
 
The Eagles's 26 percent came from the 13-50 from the field, while Western Colorado hit 45.6 percent (26-57). Chadron State was outrebounded in the loss 43-31. 
 
Chadron State made 2 of 10 three-point attempts, for 20 percent. The Mountaineers shot 12 free-throws, making 21 of them for 57.1 percent. and converted 5 of 20 shots from three, for 25 percent. 
 
CSC had 24 turnovers in the loss, compared to Western Colorado's 21. CSC converted the Mountaineers turnovers into 13 points, while Western had 18 points off the Eagles 24 turnovers. 
 
Sam Hinkle led CSC with nine points. Three different players had six points. Jordan Morris had a team high seven rebounds. 
 
Cooper and Jadyn Kanzler each scored 14 points to lead the Mountaineers. Gabie Doud had a game high eight rebounds and Cooper had a game high four assists. 
 
The Eagles return to action as they face Colorado Mesa tomorrow. The Mavericks are 7-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play on the season.
