GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - December 14, 2019 -- Daniella Turner scored a game high 21 points as Colorado Mesa defeated the CSC women's basketball team 73-41 Saturday evening.
The Eagles fall to 3-10 overall and 1-3 in the RMAC, while the Mavericks are now 8-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play.
Colorado Mesa started the game hot, outscoring CSC 21-9 in the first quarter.
Taryn Foxen scored 14 points to lead Chadron State in the loss.
Jori Peters had a team high five rebounds.
Kelsey Siemons and Kylyn Rigsby followed behind Turner with 17 and 12 points each, respectively. Five Maverick players scored four points.
Sydni Brandon had a game high 10 rebounds and nine assists.
As a team, CSC shot 27.7 percent (13-47) in the loss. Three of the teams 13 three-point attempts (23.1 percent), were converted, and 12 of the Eagle's 20 free throws were good.
Colorado Mesa shot 49.2 percent (29-59) from the field and 31.8 percent (7-22) from three. The Mavericks made eight of 13 shots from the charity stripe.
Chadron State had 15 turnovers in the game, which resulted in 15 Maverick points. The Eagles turned eight Colorado Mesa turnovers into seven points.
CSC was outrebounded 36 to 32 in the loss.
The Eagles return to action next Saturday, as they face MSU-Denver in Denver. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
