MANHEIM, Pa. -- April 3, 2019 -- The Chadron State College wrestling team ranked 13th of 62 NCAA Division II wrestling programs in cumulative team grade point average for the 2018-19 season, clocking in at 3.1817, according to Wednesday's release by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.
In addition, wrestlers
Caleb Haskell (Madison, Nebraska),
Brandon Kile (Hastings, Nebraska), and
Jay Westcott (Grand Junction, Colorado) were named NWCA DII Scholar All-Americans by the coaches' organization.
To qualify for the individual honors, a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA is required, with that benchmark at 3.25 for those who qualified for the 2019 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships and 3.0 for those who earned All-American status for the 2019 season. The athlete must also have competed in a minimum of six dates of competition.
Maryville University topped the team rankings for the second year running with a GPA of 3.5558.. The Saints qualified 15 for Scholar All-America.
