The Chadron State College volleyball team defeated Fort Lewis in three sets Saturday night, helping the Eagles start conference play 2-0 for the first time since 1993.

CSC won the sets 28-26, 28-26, 25-21.

In the victory, senior libero
Ashton Burditt set the school record for digs in a 3-set-match, with 32. Last season, she set the school record for digs in a 5-set-match.

In all three sets, the Eagles trailed at multiple times, before fighting back for the victories.

"Fort Lewis is a very scrappy aggressive team," Head Coach
Jennifer Stadler said. "I thought we did a great job battling with them and continued to stay aggressive throughout each set."

Offensively, three different Eagles recorded double-digit kills.
Shelby Schouten led the team with 12, while
Rylee Greiman and
Chandler Hageman each had 11. Hageman led the team with a .400 attack percentage.

Setter
Tori Strickbine led the Eagles with 40 assists.

Along with Burditt's digs, three other players had double-digits. Greiman recorded her second straight double-double with 17 and
Karli Noble and Strickbine each had 12.
Shelby Schouten had a team high three blocks.

Junior
Katie Thoeny led both teams with five service aces.

For the Skyhawks, Bailey Longacre hit .516 to go along with her match high 18 kills. Payton Harmann had a match high 43 assists.

As a team, Chadron State hit .247 compared to the Skyhawk's .231.

"We showed a lot of heart as a team this weekend and I feel like we are continuing to improve each day," Stadler said. "Even when we were down in points the girls kept their heads up and played with a lot of confidence.

With the victory, CSC improves to 8-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Fort Lewis falls to 4-7 overall and 0-2 in the RMAC.
