CHADRON, Neb. -- February 6, 2020 -- Chadron State College got a pair of pins from 197-pounder
Wade French and 285-pound
Mason Watt in Thursday's Senior Night matchup with Adams State University, but they were not enough to surpass the Grizzlies' eight wins in a 29-12 decision for the visitors in the Chicoine Center.
CSC briefly led after its pair of falls, which put the Eagles ahead 12-9. The dual began at 174 pounds, placing the bigger men in the spotlight early.
With the match tied 12-12, Adams' trio of top-10 ranked adversaries went to work, downing all three Eagles who faced them. A fourth, former All-American Natrelle Demison, clinched the win for his team at 26-12 by edging Eagles' senior
Chase Clasen 7-2.
The final three CSC wrestlers of the evening -
Chance Karst, Clasen, and
Tate Allison - each scored against their opponents first, but each later gave up either nearfall points or a reversal.
CSC falls to 7-11 overall and finishes its Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference slate 1-6. The Grizzlies move to second place in the conference standings at 4-1, and they are 5-2 overall.
The Eagles head to Kearney, Nebraska on the 29th of February for the NCAA Super Region 6 tournament, but the team will possibly send members to the Rocky Mountain Collegiate Open in Golden, Colorado, next Saturday, the 16th.
