CHADRON, Neb. -- March 16 -- As part of the ongoing effort to guard against the spread of COVID-19, Chadron State College has canceled its Hoop Shoot basketball tournament scheduled for next week.

On Sunday, in view of new public health guidance, due to the first case of community transmission in Nebraska, panhandle schools were closed for a period of two weeks. In addition, new NCAA regulations prevent coaches from in-person contact with prospective student-athletes until April 15.

The CSC athletics department staff will work to issue full refunds at the earliest convenience. Basketball coaching staff are already in contact with high school coaches.
