Box Score CHADRON, Neb. -- October 29, 2021 -- The Chadron State College volleyball team (4-16, 2-11 RMAC) was swept 25-15, 25-23, and 25-15 by Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference rival UCCS (7-13, 4-9 RMAC) during Friday's Faculty Night.
The Mountain Lions played an efficient game, landing hit percentages of .382 in the first set, .353 in the second set, and .500 in the third set for an all-around percentage of .403. That feat can be contributed to five UCCS players finishing the night with a percentage of .400 and higher.
The Eagles' best effort of the night came in set two where they landed 16 kills and only four errors on 46 total attempts. Setter Audrey Bennett and hitter Allie Ferguson each put up one block assist, and middle hitter Aiyana Fujiyama put up two.
The Eagles almost made a comeback in set two when they were down 18-13. After a Fujiyama kill, a Paige Boitz service ace, a Ferguson kill, and two UCCS errors, the score was tied 18-18. The Eagles however were unable to take the lead and fell short at 25-23
Defensive specialist Skylar Sullivan was the libero for the match. In her first start of the season, she produced a season-high 15 digs.
Ferguson also had a season-best performance. She landed season-highs of one assist, one block assist, and 13 digs.
"[I] thought we passed well and had some good attacking at times throughout the match," said Head Coach Jennifer Stadler. "We need to get more consistent at back row defense and find ways to limit the opponent's runs."
The Eagles will look to bounce back tomorrow night when they face the CSU-Pueblo Thunderwolves (15-6, 9-4 RMAC).
