MITCHELL, S.D. -- November 13, 2021 -- Six members of the Chadron State College men's wrestling team competed at the Dakota Wesleyan Open on Saturday, which featured ranked wrestlers in 7 of 10 brackets.

Three Eagles posted a 2-2 record, starting 2-0 and reaching the quarterfinals.

Ethan Leake, at 149 pounds, Terry Winstead at 285, and Gavin Peitzmeier at 285, each won his first two matches before meeting up with stiffer competition in the quarters.

Leake won a 13-6 decision against wrestlers from two ranked teams. He took decision from Kyle Richardson of Nebraska-Kearney and won in sudden victory over Connor Simmonds of Augustana.

Winstead pinned Nathan Martinez of Jamestown and majored Angel Rojo of Wayne State.

Peitzmeier took a tiebreaker round match from Kaleb Haase of St. Cloud State and a decision from Alton Allen of Briar Cliff.

All three lost their quarterfinal matchups and their subsequent consolation matchups.

Chadron State is back in action next Saturday at one of the largest NCAA wrestling tournaments in the nation, the UNK Holiday Inn Open in Kearney.
