CSC long jumpers finish one-two

SPEARFISH, S.D. -- February 20, 2021 -- Chadron State College freshmen Morgan Fawver of McCook and Emory Yoosook of Casper continued to improve their marks in the long jump at the Black Hills State's Stinger Open Meet on Friday.

Fawver won the event by going 23-feet, 1 ¾ inches and Yoosook was second at 22-2 ½.  Both jumps were career-bests.  There were 22 entries in the event.

Favwer's previous best was 22-11 ¼ and Yoosook's was 21-6 ½.

Freshman Hannah Christie of Alpine, Wyo., also had the best long jump of her young collegiate career, going 16-¼ to finish fifth. 

CSC sophomore Courtney Smith of Rock Springs, Wyo., also had a career-best of 51-1 ½ while finishing fifth in the 20-pound weight throw.  Freshman Dan Reynolds of Granby, Colo., also was fifth in the men's 35-pound weight throw with a mark of 51-7.

The meet is designed to give the athletes another chance to compete prior to conference meets that will be the following weekend, Feb. 26 and 27.  Just the long jump and weight throw took place Friday.   The remaining events will be today (Saturday, Feb. 20).
