ALAMOSA, Colo. -- September 17, 2021 -- The Chadron State College volleyball team fell against the Adams State Grizzlies Friday night. They lost three straight sets 18-25, 18-25, and 16-25 to open conference play for the season. The Eagles move to 2-6 (0-1 RMAC) on the young season while the Grizzlies move to 6-5 (2-0 RMAC). 

The Grizzlies' success came off their efficient hitting and their ability to capitalize on the Eagles' errors. Adams State had 37 kills and only had 14 errors in the match compared to Chadron's 26 kills and 26 errors. With a hitting percentage of .284, the Grizzlies' offensive attack proved to be too much for the Eagles' defense. 

Adams State's Shannon Mulkey lead the team with kills (9) and blocks (6). The Grizzlies' assist leaders were Bailey Schlosser (15) and Madeleine Benally (14). 

There were two true freshmen who stepped up to be statistical leaders for the Eagles. The first of whom was Aiyana Fujiyama, who had seven kills on the days. The other was Audrey Bennett, who carried the bulk of setting duties with 20 assists. 

Chadron's dig leaders were Lexi Hurtado with nine and Rylee Greiman with eight. 

"We had some nice moments tonight and saw some spurts of the team we can be," said Head Volleyball Coach Jennifer Stadler. " We look to build off those things as well as continue to work to improve." 

The Eagles will travel to Las Vegas, N.M. to take on New Mexico Highlands (2-7) tomorrow at 6 p.m.
