Cougars take control of game to win 85-52

LAKEWOOD, Colo. – December 7, 2022 – After shooting exactly 50 percent from the floor last Saturday in a 29-point win against New Mexico Highlands, the Chadron State Eagles women's basketball team cooled to just 30.5 percent shooting on Wednesday evening. Meanwhile the homestanding Colorado Christian Cougars hit 52.9 percent, including 7-of-14 from three-point range, as CCU won 85-52 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play.
 
The Eagles fell to 1-8 (1-2 RMAC) while CCU improved to 6-3 (2-1 RMAC) on the season.
 
CCU was able to break open a double-digit lead in the first quarter with a layup by senior forward India Cole, making it 15-4 a little more than halfway through the first period.
 
The second half went to CCU. The Cougars led by as many as 35 points, late in the fourth quarter.
 
Ashayla Powers scored 14 points to lead the Eagles in scoring. Allison Olsen added 12 points to put up a career high.
 
CSC heads to Western Colorado on Friday to continue its RMAC season.
