Colorado Springs, Colo. -- February 12, 2022 -- The UCCS Mountain Lions (10-14, 8-10 RMAC) defeated the Chadron State College women's basketball team (7-15, 6-11) 78-61 during a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference battle Saturday night in Colorado Springs. 

The Mountain Lions got revenge for their double-overtime loss to Chadron State in December as they took the lead to start the game and never gave it up against an Eagles squad who shot cold on field goals (17-61) and three-pointers (3-17).  

The first quarter of the game was the lowest-scoring quarter for both teams. UCCS jumped to a 5-0 lead to start the game. Ashayla Powers and Olivia Waufle each answered back with field goals inside the paint to make it a 5-4 game.  

The Mountain Lions began to pull away but not before CSC's Micheala Dammann netted a jump shot in the paint in the final four seconds of the quarter to make the score 15-10 Mountain Lions.  

The Eagles' best offensive performance came in the second quarter when they shot 41.2% on field goals (7-17), 33.3% on three-pointers (1-3) and 83.33% on free throws (5-6).  

Making the only Eagles' three-pointer of the second quarter was Jori Peters, whose bucket at 3:18 made it 23-21 Mountain Lions. UCCS' Shelby Megyeri and Emily Doolittle each scored a three-pointer to keep the Eagles at bay. The score was 35-30 at halftime. 

The Mountain Lions outpaced the Eagles 43-31 in the second half, shooting eight field goals in the third quarter and 10 field goals in the fourth.  

Chadron State added 15 free throws as well as two three-pointers from Samiyah Worrell and Olivia Waufle but simply could not keep up against the Mountain Lions' balanced attack. The final score was 78-61. 

CSC will host Black Hills State (15-8, 13-4 RMAC) on Tuesday and will travel to Rapid City to play South Dakota Mines (4-20, 4-14 RMAC) on Thursday. Both games start at 5:30 p.m.
