CHADRON, Neb. -- March 11, 2022 -- Three of the four Chadron State College track and field athletes who qualified for the NCAA Division II National Indoor Championships in Pittsburg, Kan., this weekend will be competing on Friday.

Dan Reynolds of Granby, Colo., who broke the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's 35-pound weight throw record that had stood since 2005, will be the first to swing into action.  His event will start at 2:25 p.m., immediately following the National Anthem.

Jourdaine Cerenil of Pine Bluffs, Wyo., will begin high jumping at 3:40 and Morgan Fawver of McCook will be trying to make his mark in the long jump just before 5 o'clock.

Chadron State's fourth qualifier, triple jumper Derrick Nwagwu of Aurora, Colo., won't compete until 5:35 p.m. Saturday in the last field event on the schedule.

All of the Eagles are redshirt freshmen except Nwagwu, who is a sophomore.

Each of their qualifying marks are among the lower half in their event, meaning they'll likely have to produce career-best marks to place in the top eight and earn All-American honors.

However, CSC Coach Riley Northrup points out that none of the contestants' previous marks make any difference once the competition begins.   

The Eagles have had 19 All-Americans, including four gold and three silver medal winners, at the last six National Indoor Meets.
