LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- The Chadron State College women's wrestling team finished 1-2 at the Desert Duals in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday, defeating Pacific University and falling to #15 Wartburg College and #8 Simon Fraser.

In CSC's 34-15 victory over Pacific University, the Eagles won their matches in seven of the ten weight classes. One of the defeats for CSC was a forfeit at 116 pounds.

The Eagles led early in the dual as
Mana Chanthasone and
Brianna Vollendroff earned forfeits at 101 and 109 pounds, respectively. The first wrestling of the dual occurred at 123 pounds but it did not last long.

Ana Rojas Zamora, a sophomore from Sweeny, Texas recorded a pin against her opponent in 16 seconds.

Pacific responded with two pins of their own at 130 and 136 pounds to score their final ten team points.
Karstin Hollen received a forfeit victory at 143 and
Emma Meadows earned a 11-0 tech fall victory at 155 pounds.

Maria Arellano earned her first victory of the season at 170 pounds when she pinned Sofia Aragon in 2:45. In the duals final match,
Kamila Montenegro, a senior from Las Vegas, pinned her opponent in 2:34 at 191. Montenegro finished the three duals with a 3-0 record, recording two pins and a forfeit.

In Chadron State's 25-21 loss to host Wartburg, Chanthasone, Vollendroff, Meadows and Montenegro were all victorious.

Chanthasone received a forfeit at 101 pounds before Vollendroff gave the Eagles five team points with a pin in 2:33 at 109 pounds.

Wartburg won five straight matches until Meadows was victorious with a 4-2 decision. Montenegro won her match with another pin, this time in 1:37.

Against the eighth ranked Red Leaf's, CSC's only points were scored by Hollen at 143 pounds and Montenegro at 191. While Montenegro won by forfeit, Hollen earned a 9-6 decision over her opponent.

Women's Wrestlings next dual is on January 6 when they host York University in the Chicoine Center.
