CHADRON, Neb. -- The Chadron State College wrestling team won seven consecutive matches and scored 28 straight points enroute to defeating New Mexico Highlands 34-7, Thursday evening in the Chicoine Center.

Dominic Joyce, a freshman from North Port, Florida, won an exhibition match with a 20-5 tech fall to start the dual, fans were treated to a nationally ranked matchup at 125 pounds.

#15 Rhys Sellers for the Cowboy's and CSC's
Quade Smith, who is ranked seventh in the nation, gave fans some third period excitement. While trailing 3-2, Sellers used a late escape to tie the match and later scored a takedown to win 6-3 and give the Cowboys a 3-0 match lead.

The 133-pound weight class is when CSC started the string of seven straight victories. #2
Quentrevion Campbell, a redshirt senior from Tifton, Georgia, defeated his opponent with a 17-4 major decision to improve to 11-1 on the season.

Ethan Leake and Joseph Misitano from New Mexico Highlands were tied at four at the conclusion of the first period and Leake led 5-4 due to a stalling point from his opponent heading to the final period. Leake, a redshirt senior from Clovis, California, chose bottom to begin the third and scored the final point with an escape to win 7-4.

The only tech fall that counted towards team points was scored by
Torry Early at 149 pounds. Early, a senior from Oak Park, Illinois, won 15-0 in 1:45 to add to his team record for tech falls in a season.

At 157 pounds,
Clayton Robinson, a redshirt freshman from Johnstown, Colorado, won with a 10-7 decision.

Jaziah Whaley, a redshirt junior from Gilcrest, Colorado, scored seven first period points on his way to a 12-2 major decision at 165 pounds before
Logan Berger received a forfeit victory at 174.

The Eagles seventh consecutive victory occurred at 184 pounds.
Keegan Gehlhausen, a redshirt sophomore from Pinedale, Wyoming scored one takedown and an escape to win 4-2.

The Cowboys other ranked wrestler, #16 Zachary Ferris, defeated
Eli Hinojosa, a redshirt senior from Imperial, Nebraska, with a 12-3 major decision at 197 pounds to end CSC's streak of 28 straight points.

Mason Watt didn't need long to win at heavyweight. The redshirt senior from Broomfield, Colorado only needed one takedown before pinning his opponent in 2:25.

The Eagles, who improve to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in RMAC action with the victory, host Colorado School of Mines at 6 p.m. on Friday, January 19. Instead of being held in the Chicoine Center, the dual will take place in the Nelson Physical Activity Center (NPAC) on Chadron State's campus.
