COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Chadron State College head wrestling coach
Brett Hunter and 133-pounder Quentrevion (Quen) Campbell were respectively named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Coach and Wrestler of the Year, the RMAC announced on Monday.
Â
In addition,
Ethan Leake at 141 pounds and
Mason Watt at 285 pounds were named First Team All-Conference.
Â
Hunter, who was named the National Wrestling Coaches Association Region VI Coach of the Year on Friday, led CSC to it's first RMAC men's wrestling title since 1995 this season.
Â
The team finished the year 10-1 overall and 8-0 in RMAC duals, with two national qualifiers.
Â
Campbell, a senior from Tifton, Georgia, is one of the two qualifiers for CSC. After being the regional champion last weekend, Campbell improved to 21-1 on the year. During his career in an Eagle uniform, Campbell has posted a record of 41-3.
Â
A year ago, he was named first team all-conference, on way to being the national runner-up. Campbell is currently ranked number two in the nation, with his lone defeat occurring against #1 Gabe Hixenbaugh in the Midwest Classic Championship.
Â
Leake, a graduate student from Clovis, California, also will be returning to the national tournament for the second time in his career.
Â
After qualifying in 2022, #11 Leake returns to the championships this season with a record of 17-5 and a regional runner-up finish at 141 pounds.
Â
Watt, a graduate student from Broomfield, Colorado, is earning his second first team honors of his career.
Â
A national qualifier in 2023, Watt finished 2024 with a record of 18-5 and a sixth-place finish due to injury in the regional tournament.
Â
Campbell, Leake and Watt all finished the regular season undefeated in conference duals.
