CHADRON, Neb. – Chadron State women's wrestling won four matches, but came up short against the No. 9-ranked team in the country, losing 28-18 to Colorado Mesa in a dual at the Chicoine Center. 

Mana Chanthasone and Regan Rosseter recorded pins while Esther Peters defeated a nationally ranked opponent to highlight Chadron State's performances in the matchup with the Mavericks as Chadron State dropped to 1-4 overall in dual records and 0-3 in the RMAC. 

The Eagles got off to a 10-0 lead and were tied 15-15, but the Mavericks controlled the upper middle weights, winning at 145, 160 and 180 to clinch before Peters won at 207 to close the dual.  

Mana Chanthasone made a statement in the opening match by pinning CMU's Madison Heinzer, who came in with a 20-3 record, at 3:40. The Eagles then received a forfeit at 110 pounds to take an early 10-0 lead. 
The Mavericks stormed back with falls at 117 and 124 and got a forfeit of their own at 131 to take a 15-10 lead halfway through. 

Regan Rosseter, a freshman from Omaha Westside HS, made her collegiate wrestling debut at 138 pounds and burst onto the scene with a pin of CMU's Apple Middleton in just 1:20. Rosseter led 8-0 before recording the pin. 

CMU took control with another pin at 145 and two tech falls at 160 and 180 to take an insurmountable 28-15 lead, but the Eagles had one more moment in them at 207. 

Esther Peters, a freshman from McKinney, Texas who won the 207-pound title at the Chadron State Open in December, got the biggest win of her college career against No. 9-ranked Isabeau Shalack by an 8-0 decision, earning four points in each period. 

The Eagles will have some of their wrestlers compete at the York Open Saturday before returning home for a dual against Sioux Falls on Friday, January 24.
