KEARNEY, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney women's basketball team had everything go its way on its home court against Chadron State Tuesday night while racing to a 90-46 victory over the Eagles in a non-conference contest.
The Lopers shot 61 percent (36-59) from the field, cashed in 41 points off turnovers and scored 50 points in the paint while improving their record to 6-6 for the season. Chadron State remained winless at 0-8.
Audrey Quintana scored a season-high 16 points for the Eagles and tied a season-high with six made field goals and a trio of three pointers. McKenzi Petersen and Ella Moser followed with six points each as nine different Eagles scored total.
The Eagles made 33 percent (17-51) of their field goal attempts and scored 11 points off turnovers and 16 points in the paint. The team is being rebuilt by a new coach, Jalen Little, after returning just two members of last year's roster.
Both teams had a high number of turnovers and assists. The host Lopers had 21 turnovers and 19 assists while the visitors had 29 TOs but had a dozen assists on their 17 field goals.
Evelyn Old Coyote had five of CSC's assists and also made three steals plus three rebounds.
Chadron State opened the action by taking a 4-2 lead, but Kearney led 20-12 at the end of the first period and continued to grow the margin. The Lopers were ahead 41-18 at halftime and 71-34 at the end of the third quarter.
Kearney's high scorer was freshman Myleigh Weers with 22. Senior Jillian Aschoff had a rare triple-double, scoring 15 points, grabbing 12 rebounds and handing out 13 assists. Another double-figure scorer for the Lopers was Saniya Simmons with 10 points to go with eight steals.
CSC has another tough assignment Friday evening when it closes out the 2025 portion of its schedule by playing at Fort Hays State in Kansas. The Tigers are 8-1 and were ranked eighth in the latest NCAA Division II poll.
