COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Senior guard
Dalton Peterson was one of 10 RMAC men's basketball players named to the league's All-Academic First Team by the league office Thursday, while senior forward
Julio Phipps earned a spot on the league's honor roll.
It is the first academic all-conference recognition for both Peterson and Phipps. It also marks the second consecutive season CSC men's basketball has a First Team All-Academic selection after former Eagles
Josh Robinson and
Martin Poznanovic were honored on the 2023-24 team.
Peterson has a perfect 4.0 GPA through 107 completed credit hours as a sport, fitness and recreation major. The Encampment, Wyoming native has started 51 of the 56 games he has played in a Chadron State uniform across two seasons.
On the court in 2024-25, Peterson led the team with 45 made three-pointers and 1.7 made threes per game while shooting 37.8 percent from behind the arc. Peterson averaged 5.6 points and 1.9 rebounds per game along with 21 assists and 15 steals.
Phipps earns an honor roll selection after accumulating a 3.60 GPA as a business administration major. The New Yorker averaged 10.0 points per game for the Eagles and was second on the team in rebounds (5.2 per game) and tied for first in blocks (21).
The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes in each conference-sponsored sport who academically maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average, have completed two consecutive semesters at their current institution, and have used a season of competition.
Each institution's athletic communications directors nominate student-athletes who academically maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, along with the other criteria for the Academic Honor Roll, for recognition on the First Team Academic All-RMAC in each sport. The league's athletic communications directors for that sport vote to compose the First Team Academic All-RMAC and select the Academic Player of the Year. They are not permitted to vote for their own student-athletes.
MSU Denver's Caleb McGill was named the conference's Academic Player of the Year. The league's 10 First Team All-Academic selections came from nine different institutions.
