Heinsma Wins Women's Golf Summit Award

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced Chadron State women's golfer Aubree Heinsma as the winner of the league's 2025 Women's Golf Summit Award on Saturday, ahead of the RMAC Golf Championships event that tees off Sunday.

The Summit Award, considered the RMAC's most prestigious academic honor, is given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA from each sport competing at that sport's championship site. Summit Award winners must have competed in 20 percent of available competitions throughout the current season. All GPAs are based on a straight-grading scale to ensure consistency among nominees. All ties are broken by the total number of credit hours completed through the most recently concluded semester.

Heinsma, a junior from Windsor, Colorado, sports a perfect 4.0 GPA through 105 completed credit hours as a physical sciences major. She becomes the third Chadron State athlete to win the award this academic year, joining Kyle Shirley (men's cross country) and Shania Wear (women's wrestling).

The Summit Award is the crowning achievement in a lengthy list of academic accomplishments so far for Heinsma. Already, the junior has been named a two-time Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-America Scholar and also earned a spot on the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll in 2024.

On the course, Heinsma holds an 85.9 stroke average across eight events between the fall and spring golf seasons, competing in 100 percent of Chadron State's events. Her best finish of the season came in her most recent start, when Heinsma placed fourth individually at the Hardrocker Spring Invite to earn CSC's first individual top-five of the season.

Heinsma and Chadron State are set to compete at the RMAC Golf Championships at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada this Sunday through Tuesday. The first women's group will tee off at 10 a.m.
