CHADRON, Neb. – Chadron State College Athletics announced Tuesday that women's wrestling head coach
Taylor Summers has resigned his position in order to pursue another coaching opportunity.
"It's bittersweet to leave Chadron State and all the people that make this place special," Summers said. "My family and I are grateful for the love and support we've received since stepping onto campus. I am thankful for my coaching staff and all the time and effort they have poured into this program."
Summers, the second-ever coach of the CSC women's wrestling program, spent two seasons in charge of the Eagles and helped true freshman
Esther Peters become the first All-American in program history this past March with a seventh-place finish at the NCWWC National Championships.
"I want to thank Coach Summers for his hard work to elevate Chadron State women's wrestling during his time here," athletic director
Mannie Reinsch said. "I wish Taylor and his family all the best in their next chapter."
Summers compiled a 9-11 dual record with CSC. This past season, the Eagles finished third in the team standings at the RMAC Women's Wrestling Championships, another high mark in the program's history.
"I am most proud of the young women I have been fortunate enough to coach," Summers said. "They have paved the way and set the standard of what it truly means to be a Chadron State women's wrestler. I look forward to watching this program continue to move forward and our girls becoming the best they can be."
A national search for a new women's wrestling coach is underway.
