CHADRON, Neb. – The Chadron State women's wrestling team has grabbed their passports and left the country, as the Eagles will compete north of the border in Canada for two duals this Saturday.
The Eagles will face Simon Fraser, who can clinch the RMAC title with a win over the Eagles, on Saturday at 5 p.m. MT (4 p.m. local/PT) before CSC faces California's Menlo College at 6:15 p.m. MT (5:15 p.m. local/PT). Both matches will take place in Simon Fraser's gym in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, just outside Vancouver.
In addition, a smaller contingent of CSC reserves may compete at the York Open held at York University in Nebraska, also on Saturday.
Both duals will be available to stream on the RMAC Network and are part of any existing RMAC Network subscription. Live results are scheduled to be available on Trackwrestling.

National Rankings
The NWCA released an updated national rankings list on January 16. Chadron State does not have any nationally ranked wrestlers on the NWCA's list, which ranks the top 10 wrestlers at each weight.

Brianna Vollendroff (No. 4 at 103 pounds),
Rylee Balcazar (No. 5 at 110) and
Esther Peters (No. 4 at 207).
The Open Mat, which releases top 20 rankings at each weight weekly, has Vollendroff ranked No. 16 in the nation and Balcazar at No. 15. The Open Mat also has

Coach's Corner
Head coach
Sammy de Seriere is in his first season at the helm of the Eagle program after spending two seasons as CSC's lead assistant coach. He is the third-ever women's wrestling coach at Chadron State.
In his two years on staff at CSC, De Seriere has contributed to the Eagles qualifying eight wrestlers to the NCWWC National Championships across 2024 and 2025. He worked closely with
Esther Peters, who became Chadron State's women's wrestling's first-ever All-American last season and, like de Seriere, is a heavyweight.
De Seriere began his coaching career in 2022-23 as a volunteer assistant for his alma mater, the men's wrestling program at Western Colorado. Overlapping with Summers, then a Mountaineers assistant coach, de Seriere helped Western place fourth nationally at the Division II National Championships during his lone season on staff, the program's first team trophy in 19 years.
As a student-athlete, de Seriere competed for Western Colorado for five years at heavyweight, once finishing in sixth place in Super Region VI. A strong student, de Seriere was a three-time Dean's List selection and earned Honorable Mention All-RMAC, RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll and NCAA Division II Scholar All-America honors as a senior.
