COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Chadron State women's wrestling earned a third-place projection from the league's head coaches in the 2026-27 RMAC Preseason Coaches Poll while Esther Peters earned a Preseason All-RMAC selection at 207 pounds, as announced by the conference office on Thursday.
The Eagle program tallied two second-place votes and one third-place vote in the poll, finishing with 15 team points. Simon Fraser finished first in the poll with four first-place vote and 23 team points while Colorado Mesa was second with two first-place votes, three second-place votes and 22 team points.
Behind the Eagles, Adams State ranked fourth (one second-place vote) and Texas Woman's ranked fifth. Adams and Texas Woman's each had two third-place votes apiece. League newcomer Western Colorado, in its first competitive year with a women's wrestling program, is sixth and last in the projections.
The 10-wrestler Preseason All-RMAC Team features the top returning wrestler at each weight class from last season's All-RMAC teams. Esther Peters, now a junior, earns her first Preseason All-RMAC selection after making the national tournament in each of her first two collegiate seasons and becoming the program's first-ever All-American as a true freshman in 2025.
It is the second straight season with a Preseason All-RMAC selection for Chadron State women's wrestling after Mana Chanthasone earned the honor at 103 pounds ahead of the 2025-26 season. Chanthasone wound up redshirting that season, but is slated to return to competition this year.
The Eagles return a second national qualifier from 2025-26 in 131-pounder Piper Cadden. Chadron State's third national qualifier from last season and first-ever RMAC champion, Brianna Vollendroff, is now on the Eagle coaching staff.
Sammy de Seriere returns for his second season as the Eagles' head coach, with Giovanni Cassioppi also back to assist.
Chadron State women's wrestling opens its season on Saturday, December 7 at the Dickinson State Open in Dickinson, North Dakota. The Eagles' home opener is the CSC Eagle Duals and Eagle Women's Open during the weekend of January 15-16.
