CSC’s Kiger, Romey qualify for College Finals Rodeo

CHADRON, Neb. — Two Chadron State College seniors have qualified for the College Finals Rodeo that will be June 14-20 at Casper, Wyoming. Qualifiers are bareback rider Cinch Kiger of Oxford, Neb., and barrel racer Bridget Romey of Hot Springs, S.D.

Their qualifications were verified Sunday following the conclusion of the 2025-26 season in the Central Rocky Mountain Region at the 10th and final rodeo at the University of Wyoming this past weekend.

Kiger is the region's bareback riding champion, finishing with 1,120 points. Romey placed third in the barrel racing's final standings with 480 points. That's just 30 more than the fourth place contestant earned, but the top three in each of rodeo's eight events qualify for the CFR.

Kiger earned points at each of the 10 rodeos this season. He placed fourth overall in his event at the UW rodeo this weekend, adding 90 points to his season total. He was fourth in the first go-round with a 74-point ride and was third in the finals with 78.5.

Although Romey was among the 10 finalists in the barrel race at Laramie, she was seventh in the rodeo's final standings after having times of 14.95 and 15.19 seconds on her runs and did not add to her regional point total. She had scored at six of the previous rodeos and had enough points accumulated to claim third place for the season.

Romey had competition for her qualifying slot. There were 95 barrel racers at the UW rodeo.

While they did not qualify for the College Finals, three Chadron State seniors were among the 10 tie down ropers who reached the finals of the UW rodeo on Sunday.

Sid Miller of Merna, Neb., placed second with times of 12.1 and 9.9 seconds, Seth Glass of Sidney was third with runs of 11.6 and 11.3 seconds and Pepper Rhyne of Craig, Colo., was eight overall with times of 11.3 and 17.5 seconds.

Rhyne's 11.3 was the third fastest in the first go-round and Miller's 9.9 was good for second in the finals.

Three more CSC contestants also placed at Laramie.  Senior Amanda Sellin of Norfolk was fourth among the 105 breakaway ropers by catching her calves in 2.5 and 2.2 seconds, sophomore Bailey Bell of Hershey was sixth in the barrel race with times of 14.97 and 15.10 seconds and freshman Levi Noyes of Bighorn, Mont., was sixth in the saddle bronc riding with 68- and 58-point rides.
