One of the most successful high school track and field athletes in northwest Nebraska history…During her career at Hay Springs, she won 82 first place and 23 second place medals…Her medal-count included 12 at the state meet, all in individual events…Among them were the Class D golds in the long jump as both a junior and a senior, when she had marks of 17-5 and 17-3 ½… She also won silver medals in the triple jump as a junior and in the 100 meters as a senior…Aria posted career-best marks as a senior in 2011 in the 200 (26.1), the long jump (17-5 ½) and the triple jump (37-1 ½) and matched her all-time best in the 100 (12.5), which she also ran as a sophomore and a junior…She also was a volleyball and basketball standout, who helped the Hawks qualify for the state tournament three times in volleyball and four times in basketball, including her senior year when they reached the Class D-2 hoops championship game…She redshirted during her freshman year at CSC in 2012, then competed in the jumps last season…She placed third in both the long and triple jumps at the Yellow Jackets Holiday Meet in December 2013…Daughter of Burrell Hughes and Lisa Hughes…Has a 3.766 GPA with a major in criminal justice…Born June 25, 1992…Her identical twin sister, Ashton, also starred in volleyball and basketball in high school and also attends CSC.
