Eagles go 1-1 on opening day

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LAS VEGAS – The Chadron State softball team went 1-1 on the 2014 season opening day at the Fifth Annual Desert Stinger hosted by Montana State University-Billings.

The Eagles fell to Central Washington University 3-1 in the season opener, but responded with a whopping 13-6 victory in a night game against Simon Frasier University.

Chadron State will play Azusa Pacific University and California Baptist University today at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.

The Eagles had a sluggish offensive start in its season opener, where they only marked eight hits against Central Washington. Their single run was a homer from Rebecca Wetsch in the top of the second.

Aryn Grywusiewicz struck out two and allowed six runners for the game.

In the second game versus Simon Fraiser, however, Chadron State managed to wake up their offensive game with 14 hits.

Sarah Knudsen led the Eagles offensively bating three hits and two runs. Shea Graham also had a stellar offensive game with three runs and Katie Londo drove in four runners and scored two runs.

In the circle, Kylee Polsley earned the win for Chadron State. Polsley struck out four batters and allowed six runs.

Also for the Eagles, Jessica Eatmon went 3-4 bringing in two runs and Caroline Johnson added one run.
