Akins Named First Team All-Academic

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Belle Akins earned an RMAC First Team All-Academic selection and led four Eagles on the All-Academic Honor Roll as the conference office announced their softball academic team and honorees on Wednesday.

Akins, a sophomore from Elkhorn, Nebraska, has a 3.93 GPA as an elementary education major to earn a spot on the 13-player First Team Academic All-RMAC squad. Joining Akins on the honor roll were redshirt junior Brogan Allen, senior Katelynn Czerpak and sophomore Elia DeLozier.

Aside from her success in the classroom, Akins was one of the top swing-and-miss pitchers in the RMAC this season, combining lethal strikeout numbers with longevity to work deep into games.

Akins ranked third in the RMAC with 106 strikeouts (one of only four pitchers to reach triple digits) and lead the league in batters struck out looking with 37. Akins also pitched the eighth-most innings in the conference, tossing 137.1 frames for the Eagles in 2026.

The sophomore finished with a 5.05 ERA in 23 starts, 13 of which were complete games.

Among CSC's honor roll selections, it is the second consecutive year making the honor roll for Allen while Akins, Czerpak and DeLozier receive academic accolades from the RMAC for the first time in their careers.

The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes in each conference-sponsored sport who academically maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average, have completed two consecutive semesters at their current institution, and have used a season of competition.

Each institution's athletic communications directors nominate student-athletes who academically maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, along with the other criteria for the Academic Honor Roll, for recognition on the First Team Academic All-RMAC in each sport. The league's athletic communications directors for that sport vote to compose the First Team Academic All-RMAC and select the Academic Player of the Year. They are not permitted to vote for their own student-athletes.
