Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LAS VEGAS - The Chadron State College softball team suffered two losses to Azusa Pacific University and California Baptist University on the second day of the Desert Stinger hosted by Montana State University-Billings.
 
Azusa Pacific jumped on the Eagles early in the first inning when they scored two runs, but Shea Graham responded with a homer in the bottom of the first. Chadron State marked only four more hits for the game to give the Cougars their 4-1 victory.
 
Breeze Phillips and Megan Vincent each struck out two batters. Phillips scattered eight hits, while Vincent allowed two.
 
In the second game, the Eagles squandered several opportunities to score, but California Baptist University executed excellent defense for the 8-0 victory over Chadron State.
 
Chadron State's pitcher, Kylee Polsley, struck out three batters and scattered five hits. California Baptist University scored one run in the bottom of the second and earned seven more runs to close the game in the bottom of the sixth initiating the eight-run rule.
 
"The score in no way indicates how close the game was," Stack said. "We put some pressure on them but they had some very good defensive plays. We tried to make the best of our opportunities, but they didn't come through."
 
The Eagles (1-3) match up against St. Mary's University Sunday at 2 p.m. in the tourney finale.
 
"We have another opportunity tomorrow to play well against a very good team," Stack said.
