Box Score 2 LAKEWOOD, Colo. – The Chadron State College softball team scored three runs in the final three innings for a come-from-behind 3-2 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference victory over Colorado Christian Friday in Lakewood, Colo.
In Friday's other game, Colorado Christian scored five runs in the first inning and cruised an 8-0 win in five innings.
Following the doubleheader, Chadron State is 11-15 overall and 8-6 in the conference. The Eagles and Cougars will play another doubleheader Saturday beginning at 11 a.m., weather permitting.
In the first game, Chadron State trailed 2-0 but the Eagles finally got their offense going in the fifth inning when
Courtney Lecher hit an RBI double that scored
Taylor Bauer.
After a scoreless sixth inning, Lecher struck again when she hit a single that plated
Caroline Johnson. Then, with the bases loaded,
Rebecca Wetsch was hit by a pitch and
Shea Graham scored to give CSC a 3-2 lead.
In the seventh inning, Chadron State hurler
Kylee Polsley allowed a walk but she worked around it and got three batters to fly out to secure the victory. In the game, Polsley scattered nine hits and struck out seven batters while improving to 7-5.
Lecher,
Katie Londo and
Casey Polk led the Eagles with two hits apiece. Bauer and
Caity Pelayo also added singles.
In the second game, Ashley Behabetz hit a grand slam in the first inning and Sarah Rasmussen followed with a solo shot in the third en route to the Cougars' 8-0 win.
The Eagles managed just three hits – all singles – from Wetsch,
Rebeka Prokaski and Bauer.
