The Chadron State softball team will finally have its home-opener Wednesday when it hosts the University of Sioux Falls in a doubleheader. First pitch is set for noon.
The Eagles were originally scheduled to host a three-team pod February 22 but the games were moved to Sterling, Colo., because of poor weather. However, temperatures are expected to be in the mid-40s tomorrow in Chadron.
Chadron State will hit the road again this weekend as it dives into more Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference competition with Regis University. The teams will play two games Saturday (noon and 2 p.m.) and two games Sunday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The Eagles (5-9 overall, 2-2 RMAC) won two of three games over Metro State last weekend. CSC hit an impressive 10 homeruns including two grand slams to claim its 9-5 and 9-4 victories.
Katie Londo hit three of the 10 home runs and leads the Eagles with 21 total bases this season.
Sioux Falls dropped two games last weekend last to Pittsburg State and Northwest Missouri State in Pittsburg, Kansas falling to 3-3 on the season.
The Cougars have four regular hitters averaging about .300, led by Dewey Kellen's .429. Shannon Daly has collected 13 total bases and Amanda Walters brings a 3.87 ERA to the circle.
