CSC softball hosts New Mexico Highlands

CHADRON – The Chadron State College softball team hosts a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference four-game series against New Mexico Highlands University Friday and Saturday.
 
Friday's doubleheader begins at noon and Saturday's games start at 11 a.m.
 
New Mexico Highlands (11-25 overall, 7-18 RMAC) currently sits at No. 12 in the RMAC and is coming off four-straight losses last weekend to University of Colorado-Colorado Springs and Metro State.
 
At the plate, four regular batters have averages above .350, led by Jessica Brink. She has a .368 avg., and 35 hits on the season including 6 home runs. Following close behind is Jacquelyn Wood (.366), Amber Cordero (.366) and Annie Reynolds (.352).
 
In the circle, Brink has 67 strikeouts and Wood has 25.
 
The Eagles (16-18 overall, 13-9 RMAC) split four games last weekend with the RMAC leading CSU-Pueblo. Chadron State is currently ranked seventh in the RMAC standings but only two games out of first place.
 
Two freshmen lead the Eagles in batting averages after strong performances last weekend. Zoe Humphries (.375) had three hits last weekend and Taylor Bauer (.333) scored two runs on two hits.
 
Senior Kylee Polsley continues her strong season in the circle with a 3.89 ERA and has stuck out 70.
