Box Score 2 CHADRON – Chadron State College pitchers
Kylee Polsley and
Aryn Grywusiewicz each threw complete game gems as the Eagles' softball team swept New Mexico Highlands during a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference doubleheader Friday at the CSC Softball Field.
Chadron State won the first game 7-1 and followed with a 4-0 victory in the finale. With the two wins, Chadron State improves to 18-18 overall and 15-9 in the RMAC.
The two teams will play another doubleheader today (Saturday) beginning at 11 a.m.
Polsley, a senior from Omaha, improved to 10-6 this season after striking out six and allowing just three hits in the opener. The only run she allowed came in the bottom of the seventh inning when Dekota Monarrez hit a solo home run.
The Eagles grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second inning when
Casey Polk's single scored
Katie Londo but Chadron State took control of the game in the fifth inning by scoring six runs.
Taylor Bauer scored after Bekka Prokaski reached on an error and
Rebecca Wetsch followed by blasting a three-run home run to left field. Londo eventually scored following another error and Polk doubled in
Caroline Johnson and the Eagles took a commanding 7-0 lead.
Sarah Knudsen, Wetsch and Polk each had two hits to lead CSC.
In the final game,
Aryn Grywusiewicz threw her second straight complete game shutout. The senior hurler from Denver allowed just three hits and struck out six Cowgirls in the strong performance.
Chadron State got on the board early in the first inning when
Courtney Lecher scored on a wild pitch but they added three insurance runs in the sixth inning after
Zoe Humphries and Prokaski hit RBI singles.
Londo led the way with two hits but six others roped singles.
