CHADRON – The Chadron State College softball team is looking to build off a five-game winning streak as it matches up against Black Hills State and Colorado Mesa in a pod-play Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, the Eagles play Black Hills State at 11 a.m. and Colorado Mesa at 1 p.m. For Saturday, Chadron State plays Colorado Mesa at 1 p.m. and Black Hills State at 3 p.m.
Colorado Mesa (20-10 RMAC. 21-17 overall) is ranked No. 2 in the most current RMAC standings and swept Western New Mexico University in a four-game series last weekend.
The Mavericks have three regular batters hitting above .440 who all rank among the top five in the RMAC. Makayla Kovac (second) is hitting a .473, Sarah Phillis (fourth) has a .453, and Jessica Severinsen (fifth) averages .444.
Severinsen also leads the RMAC in the circle. She has a 3.05 ERA (11 wins, 9 losses), and has struck out 86.
Black Hills State (1-21 RMAC, 2-27 overall) has three players hitting over .325 led by Nia Shumpert's .426. On the mound, Kaitlin Farrar has struck out 36.
Chadron State's
Kylee Polsley had a stellar pitching performance last weekend where she moved to the third spot in the RMAC standings. She had a .058 ERA and allowed only five hits in two complete-game victories.

Taylor Bauer and
Katie Londo are enjoying solid offensive seasons. Bauer is batting a .328 with 10 RBIs and five home runs and Londo is averaging .318 with 24 RBIs and 14 home runs.
