Box Score 2 KEARNEY, Neb. – The Chadron State College softball continued its winning ways with a 2-0 non-conference victory over in-state rival Nebraska-Kearney Tuesday afternoon during their doubleheader.
The Eagles, now 24-20 this season, fell to the Lopers 4-3 in the final game.
Chadron State, which clinched its second-ever trip to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference postseason tournament last weekend, will host Fort Lewis in a four-game series this weekend.
On Tuesday, the Eagles' strong pitching led them in the opening game.
Kylee Polsley threw four innings of 2-hit ball to earn the victory and
Aryn Grywusiewicz earned the save by pitching three innings of scoreless relief. Polsley struck out two, while Grywusiewicz struck out three and allowed just two hits.
With the win, Polsley improves to 14-6, tied for the second-most wins in school history.
The Eagles had eight hits in the game.
Katie Londo went 2-for-4 and
Taylor Bauer added a double.
Jessica Eatmon drove in the opening run in the top of the first inning when she flew out to centerfield to score
Sarah Knudsen.
The Eagles added another run in the fifth when
Rebecca Wetsch scored on a passed ball.
In the second game, Londo and
Katelyn Kruger both hit RBI doubles but the Lopers scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to escape with the 4-3 win.
Eatmon paced the offense with two hits and
Rebekah Anthony added a double.
Breeze Phillips suffered the loss. In 6 2/3 innings of work, she allowed nine hits and struck out three.
