Eagles, Skyhawks close out softball season Friday, Saturday

CHADRON – The four-game Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference series between Chadron State College and Fort Lewis College originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday will now be played on Friday and Saturday due to poor weather forecasts.
 
The Eagles (24-20, 20-10 RMAC) and the Skyhawks (22-24, 18-16 RMAC) will play at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles' four seniors - Katie Londo, Sarah Knudsen, Kylee Polsley and Aryn Grywusiewicz will be honored between games on Saturday.   

The Skyhawks can be dangerous. They have a .323 team batting average and have seven regulars who have at least .300 averages. Each of them has at least 39 hits.

The hitting leader is senior third baseman Chelsea Rodriguez, who has 50 hits in 120 at bats for a .417 average. She has belted a team-high 11 homers and driven in 41 runs. Close behind Rodriguez in the hit parade is freshman Adriana Rosthenhausler, who has a team-best 59 hits and is batting .391.

The Skyhawks have hit 42 home runs, but the opponents have hit 45. Both starters, Kiley Raica and Victoria Johnson, have given up 15 round trippers. Raica has struck out 53 and walked 29. Johnson has fanned 67 and walked 37.

Chadron State has a .268 team batting average, led by Taylor Bauer's .353 average on 24 hits in 68 trips to the plate. Londo is hitting .312, and is the team's leading slugger with 14 homers and 28 runs driven in.

Courtney Lecher has a .307 average while Knudsen is a close fourth on the Eagles' list at .295. Both Londo and Knudsen have scored 26 times to set the pace.

In the circle, Polsley has struck out 97 and walked 38 while compiling her 14-6 record. Grywusiewicz, who is 8-9, has fanned 49 and walked 43.
