Eagles sweep Skyhawks to set school win record

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2  CHADRON – The Chadron State College softball team busted two grand slams and set the school record for most season wins as it swept Fort Lewis College in a double header Friday.
 
Courtney Lecher blasted a walk off grand slam in the opening game to clinching an 8-0 win, and Jessica Eatmon nailed another grand slam in the final game leading to a 6-0 victory.
 
The Eagles, now 28-20 overall and 24-10 in the RMAC, were led by strong pitching efforts of Kylee Polsley and Aryn Grywusiewicz. Both pitchers tossed complete game shutouts.  Polsley opened the doubleheader striking out seven and allowing just ­­­one hit, while Grywusiewicz ­­­struck out three and allowed two hits.    
 
Chadron State had eight hits in the first game. Lecher, Taylor Bauer and Katie Londo all scored unearned runs in the third inning after Rebecca Wetsch reached on an error.
 
In the fifth, Sarah Kundsen walked to bring in Casey Polk which was followed by Lecher's homer that cleaned up the game.
 
In the final game, the Eagles managed six runs on seven hits.
 
Eatmon started things in the third with her grand slam, bringing in Wetsch, Lecher and Knudsen. The three final runs were collected in the fifth when Knudsen, Londo and Lecher all scored on single hits.
 
Chadron State is back in action Saturday for another double header against Fort Lewis. The first pitch is set for 11 a.m.
