Eagle men ambushed 86-63 at UCCS

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- December 19, 2015 -- The Chadron State College men's basketball team will head home for the holidays on a sour note, after dropping the last game of the 2015 calendar year 86-63 to UCCS in Colorado Springs. The Eagles (4-5, 2-3 RMAC) go to the break on a three-game skid, while the Mountain Lions (7-5, 4-1 RMAC) are winners of four straight.

A competitive first half saw the Mountain Lions close with a 10-0 run, and the Eagles never threatened in the remaining 20 minutes, after going into the break down 43-31.

Senior forward Alex Welsh led four UCCS starters in double-digits with 24 points.

For the Eagles, Jordan Green made his debut in the Cardinal and White, leading the team with 12 points off the bench with 2-of-3 three-point shooting and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line.

Billy Johnson was the only other Eagle to score double digits, with 10 points.

The Eagles shot a disappointing 28.3% from the field, compared to 56.1% for the home team. However they were a healthy 84.8% on foul shots.

CSC was uncharacteristically beaten on the boards, 43-28, and had a season low assist-to-turnover ratio of 0.36.

After the holiday break, Chadron State hosts Western State Colorado University and Colorado State University-Pueblo on back-to-back nights. The games are the first consecutive Saturday-Sunday contests of the year and will follow the women's games at 3 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
