CHADRON – Chadron State College's softball team begins the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference portion of its schedule in a pair of doubleheaders in Silver City, New Mexico, when the Eagles will take on both CSU Pueblo and Western New Mexico University Saturday and Sunday.

Chadron State (0-12, 0-0 RMAC) have struggled against good pitching thus far this season. In 12 games the Eagles' opponent ERA has been 4.32. Despite this, six Eagles have a batting average greater than .290. Senior
Casey Polk leads the team with a .393 batting average, tallying 11 hits and a team-high seven RBIs. Shortstop
Courtney Lecher, who has a .351 batting average, has 37 at bats in her leadoff position. She also leads the team in hits with 13 and runs with nine.

Defensively, the Eagles have completed 11 double plays, well above par compared to the 20 that were completed last season.

Western New Mexico (3-8, 0-0 RMAC) has struggled against good competition in a couple of tournaments. Linzy Granger leads the team in batting with a batting average of .438. Also for the Mustangs, Stephanie Higgins has 12 RBIs thus far on the season.

The ThunderWolves (4-8, 0-0 RMAC) are suffering a five-game losing streak after getting a victory against Texas Woman's College. Pitcher Lexie Martindale has a team-best ERA of 3.97 in two losses for CSU-Pueblo. On offense, Madison Wolfe leads the attack with a .400 batting average on 14 hits and a dozen runs.
