CHADRON – Chadron State College's softball team will host Black Hills State University Saturday and Sunday in a four-game Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference series. First pitch is set for noon Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday.
Senior
Casey Polk leads Chadron State (1-15, 1-3 RMAC) in hitting with a batting average of .463 and a team-high 12 RBIs. Sophomore shortstop
Courtney Lecher has scored a team-high 13 runs while batting .358 and is tied with Polk with 19 hits. Catcher
Zoe Humphries has three home runs and is tied with Lecher and
Jessica Eatmon with four doubles apiece.
Defensively, first baseman
Katelyn Kruger and Lecher have turned half of the team's double plays with three each. The two combined for the first and third most double plays turned last season in CSC history.
Black Hills State (1-8, 0-4 RMAC) are a strong hitting team with seven hitters posting a batting average greater than .300. Catcher Erica Everson paves the way with 10 hits in 20 at bats. Alexis Shaffer, Katie Campo and Katherine Drake all have six RBIs thus far, with Cassie Smith leading the team with seven runs.
Pitchers Savannah Eckhardt has six strikeouts in 18 innings, accumulating for a 4.12 ERA. Everson has caught three runners stealing thus far.
