CHADRON – The Chadron State College softball team, eighth in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, looks to stay in playoff contention when they play Adams State College this weekend, sixth in the RMAC. Firth pitch is set for Saturday at noon.
 
Chadron State (12-28, 12-16 RMAC) find itself in playoff contention following a split series against New Mexico Highlands University. The Eagles are led by shortstop Courtney Lecher batting average of .379. She leads the team in runs and hits with 30 and 50, respectively.
 
Also for CSC, designated player Casey Polk leads the team with 29 RBIs and Zoe Humphries has nine home runs.
 
In the circle for Chadron State, Tayler Hall has a 10-10 record with a 4.64 ERA. She has struck out over 120 batters, with opponents' batting under .275 against her.
 
Adams State University (18-18, 16-14 RMAC) are led by Erika Ecsedy who has a .447 batting average and 27 RBIs. Erica Haugum, .375 batting average, has a team-high 36 RBIs and seven home runs.
 
The Grizzlies have two strong pitchers in the circle with ERAs under 3.75. Kelsey Sellars boasts a 3.22 ERA and has a 9-8 win record. Kaycee Prevedel has a 3.67 ERA and a team-low opponent batting average of .257.
 
Chadron State College closes out its regular season with three home contests. Chadron State hosts the University of Nebraska Kearney Tuesday and hosts a triangular with conference leading MSU-Denver and Colorado Mesa University Saturday, April 25, and Sunday, April 26.
