Box Score 2 ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Chadron State College softball team fell victim to Adams State University as the team popped off 16 hits in two wins Sunday in Alamosa, Colorado. CSC stays in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference contention as the team sits in eighth in the conference with four games remaining.
In the first game of the day, CSC jumped out to a 2-1 lead as
Courtney Lecher reached by a double and was driven in by a single by
Zoe Humphries. Adams State's Marissa Harmon stepped up in the fifth and slammed a three-run home run to seal the win, 4-2.
In game two CSC took an early lead as Lecher took the first at bat the distance for her second home run of the day. The Eagles scored three runs in the first inning for an early 3-0 lead.
In the bottom of the third, Erica Haugum drove in two runs with a double to center field, reclaiming the lead 4-3. Kruger hit a double in the fourth inning that was driven home by a RBI single by
Taylor Bauer to tie the game at four apiece. Marissa Harmon drove in two runs in the fifth, as the Grizzlies went off for five runs in the fifth and three in the sixth. Adams won with a final score of 12-4.
Aspen Eubanks led the Eagles with three hits while hitting .500. Kruger finished with three hits as well.
Harmon paved the way for the Grizzlies, making contact three times for six RBIs. Haugum was three for four with two runs and RBIs.
Chadron State College hosts a double header with the University of Nebraska Kearney Tuesday followed by hosting a triangular with conference-leading Metro State University and Colorado Mesa University Saturday and Sunday. The Eagles play at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. both days.
