CHADRON, Neb. -- December 10, 2016 -- Junior guard J'Nae Squires-Horton poured in 27 points and junior forward Georgia Ohrdorf added 18 and also collected nine rebounds Saturday night while leading Metro State of Denver to a 70-50 victory over Chadron State in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women's basketball action.
The game was closer than the final score indicates. Although Metro led 31-22 at halftime, Chadron State cut the difference to just 48-43 in the third period. However, in the final frame the Eagles added just seven points and Squires-Horton tallied 10 and Ohrdorf six to break the game wide open.
Squires-Horton's scoring binge included five of 11 shooting from 3-point range.Â
Chadron State was again led by guard
Kalli Feddersen, who scored 16 points, grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds and handed out four assists. The junior from Rawlins, Wyo., was six of seven from the free throw line and is now 35-39 from the charity stripe this season.
Kylah Collins added 10 points for the Eagles. Neither team had anyone else score more than six points.
Metro shot 38 percent from the field compared to Chadron State's 34 percent, outrebounded the Eagles 44-35 and committed just five turnovers. The Roadrunners are now 7-4 overall and 3-1 in the RMAC.Â
Chadron State, which claimed just eight offensive rebounds, had 13 turnovers and is now 1-6 for the season and 1-3 in the conference.
