UCCS scores 100 in win at CSC

CHADRON — February 12, 2016 — Seniors Dalton Patten and Kendall Godley combined for 40 points while making 14 of 18 field goal attempts and four teammates also scored in double figures as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs took a 100-69 victory from Chadron State in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men's basketball game here Friday night.

After scoring at least 91 points seven times this season, it was the Mountain Lions' first 100-point game.

Now 15-10 overall and 12-6 in the conference, Colorado Springs shot 55 percent from the field, including eight of 17 from 3-point range.  The Eagles, 6-16 and 4-14, hit just 33.3 percent of their shots from the field and were four of 25 from behind the arc.

Led by sophomore guard Sharif Black's 13 of 14 performance, the Eagles sank 19 of their 20 free throws, but were outscored at the line as the Lions were 26 of 38 at the charity stripe.

Black led all scorers with 23 points and also shared team rebounding honors with seven.  Forward Billy Johnson added 17 points.

Patten tallied 21 points and Godley 19 for the Lions.  Fellow senior Alex Welsh was next with 14 and had a game-high eight rebounds.  Although Elijah Ross took just one shot from the field and was one of two from the line for UCCS, he handed out 10 assists.  The Eagles had a total of seven.
