Eagle win third straight five-set match

CHADRON, Neb. -- For the third win in a row, the Chadron State College volleyball team pulled out a thrilling five set victory, defeating Westminster College 19-25, 25-22, 25-17, 19-25, 16-14, Friday night in the Chicoine Center.
 
With the victory, Chadron State improves to 12-5 overall and 6-3 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while the Griffins fall to 3-15 overall and 0-10 in conference play.
 
"I thought we did a good job of continuing to battle during our lower parts of the match tonight," Head Coach Jennifer Stadler said.
 
CSC outhit Westminster .153 to .128 in the match.
 
Chandler Hageman recorded 16 kills and six blocks in the victory, leading the Eagles in both. Hageman hit a team high .389.
 
Senior Shelby Schouten finished with 13 kills, freshman Rylee Greiman had 12 and Senior Timmi Keisel recorded 11. Schouten recorded five blocks.
 
Freshman setter Tori Stickbine finished with 37 assists, while Sophomore Kincaid Strain had 18.
 
Defensively, five different individuals had double-digits for CSC. Senior libero Ashton Burditt led the team with 35, followed by Greiman with 25 and Karli Noble with 23. Strickbine finished with 20 and Strain had 12.
 
Greiman, Strickbine and Strain all finished with double-doubles.
 
Audrey Green led the Griffins with 17 kills. Aggie Roese-Olsen had a team high 24 assists, while Katie Culver led the team with 6 blocks and Hannah Stearman had 27 digs.
 
"Our girls did a great job of keep trying to find a way to win tonight," Stadler said. "Credit to Westminster for out scrapping us tonight throughout the match."
 
The Eagles return to action tomorrow as they face Dixie State at 6 p.m., in the Chicoine Center.
