Next up on the Chadron State College basketball schedules is a visit by the Metro State Roadrunners on Saturday night in the Chicoine Center.  The women's game is to open the action at 5:30 and the men's game has been canceled.
Both CSC teams played fast-paced, lively games at home against Black Hills State on Tuesday night, but the women came up short after being out-numbered on the bench.
The Eagles women suited up just seven players since three team members, including leading scorer
Taryn Foxen, were ill or injured.  The hosts trailed by just 23-22 at halftime, but were outscored 21-11 in the third quarter and lost 65-52.  They could take pride in having out-rebounded the taller Yellow Jackets 41-30.
The CSC women are now 0-7. They are shooting 36.6 percent from the field, compared to 42 percent by the opponents and have been outscored 111-57 from the free throw line.
Foxen was averaging 15.2 points through five games before being sidelined by illness. Junior point guard
Jori Peters leads the Eagles' healthy players with a 10.4 scoring average.
The Metro women were 7-4 after edging Colorado-Colorado-Springs 68-65 during their last game on Jan. 21.  Their top scorer is 6-foot senior Allie Navarette of Torrance, Calif., at 21.7 points a game after she led the team in scoring in each of the last nine contests.  Her season-high is 32 during a 71-66 win over Colorado Mesa. Navarette is also averaging 8.5 rebounds.
The Roadrunners will play at Black Hills State on Friday night before visiting the Eagles.
