SPEARFISH, S.D. -- In a meet that consisted of only Chadron State, hosts Black Hills State and Little Wound High School, the CSC men's team saw nine individual champions and the women's team had six, Saturday afternoon in Spearfish, South Dakota.

Eva Nitschke and
Megan Baloun both won two events for the CSC women while
Morgan Fawver was a double winner on the mens side.

Nitschke, a freshman from Rawlins, Wyoming, ran the 60-meter hurdles in 9.26 and won the 200-meter dash after crossing the finish line in 26.72 seconds. The field for the women's 60-meter hurdles race only included two runners, both from CSC, while the 200-meter dash had seven total winners.

Baloun won the long jump and triple jump. A freshman from Rapid City, South Dakota, Baloun won the long jump by less than an inch, jumping 4.96m or 16-03.25 feet. Her victorious mark in the triple jump was 10.29m or 33-09.25 feet.

Caydince Groth, a sophomore from Cheyenne, Wyoming and
Allison Brummell, a sophomore from Torrington, Wyoming, were CSC women's other champions. Groth defeated three of her teammates by three seconds for gold in the 400-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 1:01.20. Brummell was victorious after clearing 1.55 meters of five feet and one inch in the high jump.

The Chadron State women's team had nine different individuals earn second place finishes.Â

Fawver, a junior from McCook, Nebraska, led the men's team with gold in the 60-meter dash and long jump. His best jump was 6.99 meters or 22-11.25 feet while he crossed the finish line in 6.84 seconds in the 60.

Blaine Johnson, a sophomore from Sheridan, Wyoming, ran the mile in 4:42.45, good for first place by six total seconds.

Gregory Logsdon, a junior from Torrington, won gold on the track after running the 400-meter dash in 52.04 and
Ryan Clapper, a sophomore from Veterans, Wyoming, won the 200-meter dash in 22.38.

The Eagles swept both throwing events and all three jumping events.
Christopher Jennings, a junior from O'Neill, Nebraska won the weight throw while Parker Gosner, a junior from Windsor, Colorado, threw the shot put 14.71 meters or 48-03.25 feet for first.

Chayton Bynes, a freshman from Chadron and
Alec Penfield, a junior from Lusk, Wyoming, won the triple jump and high jump, respectively. Penfield cleared 2.01m or 6 feet 7 inches, while Bynes jumped 13.65m or 44-09.5 feet.

The CSC men's team added six second place finishes.

Chadron State's next scheduled meet is on January 13, 2024 in Spearfish, South Dakota.
