CHADRON, Neb. -- April 27, 2023 -- The Chadron State College softball team makes a final push for the RMAC playoffs today and tomorrow when they host CSU-Pueblo.
Currently, CSC is in 7
th place in the RMAC standings. The top six teams in the conference earn a berth to the RMAC playoffs, with Fort Lewis in the sixth and final spot currently.
This weekend, Fort Lewis travels to Colorado Christian University. CCU is currently 38-2 in RMAC play and 38-4 overall. The Skyhawks are 21-17 in conference play with a win
percentage of .553.
The Eagles are 24-23 overall and 22-18 in conference play, a win percentage of .550.
All CSC needs to do this weekend to receive the sixth and final playoff spot is win one more game than Fort Lewis.
There are three other scenarios for the Eagles to clinch a playoff berth that don't involve the Skyhawks.
If Chadron State goes 4-0 or 3-1 this weekend and Colorado Mines is swept by Colorado Mesa, CSC will make playoffs. If the Eagles go 4-0 and Mesa is swept by Colorado
Mines or Regis is swept at Adams State, Chadron State will earn a playoff berth.
There is a possibility for CSC to move up higher than the six seed, depending on results of other RMAC games this weekend.
This week's opponent, CSU-Pueblo, is 15-23 overall and 20-27 in RMAC play.
