CHADRON, Neb. -- May 17, 2023 -- Shane Collins,
Creighton Trembly,
Kyla Sawvell and
Courtney Smith were all named to the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field All-Region team, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Wednesday.

Top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-3 ranked relay team.

Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for awards.
Â
Sawvell, a senior from Wall, South Dakota, received the honor for Shot Put and Hammer Throw. She currently is ranked second nationally in the hammer throw and sixth in shotput and will compete at nationals in both events.

Smith, a junior from Rock Springs, Wyoming, also received the honor for hammer throw. After finishing eighth at the conference meet, Smith threw her personal best of 51.84m last week at the Loper Twilight meet, placing her second.

On the men's side, Collins was the third Eagle to receive All-Region in hammer throw. The junior from Bison, South Dakota is ranked 17
th in the national after throwing 60.31m at the Outdoor RMAC Track & Field Championships at the end of April. He will also compete at nationals.

The only Chadron State athlete to receive All-Region for a track event is Trembly, a sophomore from Longmont, Colorado.

Trembly ended his season a couple spots short of being a national qualifier in the 110m hurdles. His season best time occurred at the RMAC Championships when he ran the hurdles in 14.26 seconds.

The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference had a total of 104 athletes receive All-Region honors.
